Story
Products are framed as expressions of cultural knowledge and individual craft—not anonymous catalogue items.
How RankCraft Media brought heritage, artisan impact and e-commerce together in a digital experience that helps handmade work remain visible, relevant and commercially accessible.
Qalaakriti is a social enterprise dedicated to reviving traditional Indian and South Asian art forms while expanding economic opportunity for artisans.
The website had to do several jobs at once: sell handmade products, explain their cultural value, introduce the people and purpose behind the work, provide educational resources and create future pathways for custom orders, corporate gifting and artisan participation.
Handmade products carry context that mass-produced products do not: technique, origin, material, maker and meaning. The challenge was to communicate that richness without making the shopping experience difficult.
The interface also needed to connect a diverse catalogue—from jewellery and candles to handloom, décor and art supplies—under one coherent purpose-led brand.
Products are framed as expressions of cultural knowledge and individual craft—not anonymous catalogue items.
Resources, community content and “sell with us” messaging invite people to engage beyond a transaction.
Artisan empowerment, ethical production and sustainability give customers a meaningful reason to choose handmade.
The name can be read as the meeting of Qala—art or craft—and Aakriti—shape or form: creativity transformed into something tangible.
Fluid, handwritten strokes feel personal and human, separating the identity from mechanical mass-market branding.
The integrated domain ending connects a heritage-led brand with its modern online marketplace.
Teal carries trust and cultural richness, green signals growth and empowerment, and black-and-white foundations allow colourful handmade products to remain the focus.
Craft lives.
Stories connect.
The information architecture connects commerce, cultural education and social impact instead of treating them as separate experiences.
The homepage establishes who Qalaakriti serves and why handmade work matters.
WooCommerce supports browsing, product evaluation, wishlists, stock visibility and checkout.
Educational and community pathways position Qalaakriti as a platform for craft participation.
Each part of the experience connects a communication challenge with a practical digital response.
